Beautiful Bergen, the second largest city in Norway comes to life on an informative pedestrian tour though its historic Bryggen Wharf, once the domain of Hanseatic German merchants and now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Your walk is approximately four kilometers (2.5 miles) on both paved and cobblestone roads. Follow your guide toward the wharf to admire the painted wooden houses with gabled facades that, after several devastation fires, have been reconstructed to precisely replicate their original compact characteristics. Peruse the local fish market, a central meeting spot since the 1200s and today one of Norway's most popular outdoor markets, where an array of seafood, fresh from the icy waters, is hawked by lively vendors. Then stop at a unique Ice Bar where you'll don warm wraps and sip a welcome drink in an ice glass while viewing the works of some of Norway's most renowned artists. Continue your walk back to the ship.
