A full-day adventure awaits when you journey to Knossos, once heralded as the social, political and spiritual center of Minoan culture. Step back in time at Minoan Palace and tour the vast complex containing 1,300 rooms. See the restored Throne Room and the celebrated frescoes, including the "Bull-leaping Fresco" and the "Toreador Fresco," painted circa 1500-1400 B.C. Then, travel into the foothills to a traditional winery, still producing wines in the centuries-old tradition. Learn about the Minoans' successful cultivation of grapes and the wine industry they created. Watch a multimedia presentation, tour the cellar and enjoy a wine tasting. Continue on to Arolithos, a re-created village built by a local family to evoke memories of the region's past. At your traditional lunch, the chef will entertain you with a cooking demonstration. A scenic drive through the streets of Heraklion concludes this exceptional day.
