Discover Genoa, Italy's sixth largest city, on a two-hour narrated walking tour that introduces you to the churches, palaces and historic sights that define the birthplace of Christopher Columbus. Stroll through the cobblestone streets of Caruggi, the largest medieval center in Europe. Make your way to Ferrari Square for its magnificent restored fountain and equestrian statue of Garibaldi as well as the 19th-century Stock Exchange and the neoclassical opera house. Proceed to Caricamento Square for views of the 13th-century St. George Palace, then follow along Piazza Dante to the little house known as Casa di Colombo. Step inside the courtyard of the Ducal Palace, the seat of the Republic of Genoa in the 16th century, and see the baroque Church of Jesus and the grand Romanesque San Lorenzo Cathedral. Then enjoy free time to browse the shops and boutiques along the Sottoripa before a scenic drive back to port.
