Despite a thousand-year history marked by occupation, war and natural calamities, Hanoi preserves many of its ancient architectural works and colonial heritage. This intriguing full-day tour introduces you to its captivating charms from the port city of Ha Long and a rural artisan village in the tranquil countryside to Hanoi's broad boulevards, towering pagodas, tranquil lakes and bustling shop-lined streets. You'll visit the Temple of Literature (built in 1070), view the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and tour Ho Chi Minh's garden and stilt house. After lunch in a local restaurant, explore the Old Quarter on foot, mingling with the street vendors, shopping for arts and crafts, and relaxing over a bai hoi (beer) while watching the world go by. During the drive to and from the pier, you'll enjoy a panorama of country scenes: rice paddies, water buffalo, and friendly villagers going about the business of their daily life.
