Halong Bay Deluxe Cruise

Ha Long Bay, in Vietnam's Gulf of Tonkin, was inscribed in 1994. The area includes some 1,600 oddly-shaped islands and islets, forming a spectacular vision of karst pillars, sometimes compared in local folklore to a dragon's back. Most of the islands are uninhabited and unaffected by a human presence. Its outstanding scenic beauty is complemented by great biological interest.
Bay of the Descending Dragon is the English translation for Halong Bay. This remarkable natural wonder and UNESCO World Heritage Site became famous in the West when it was featured in the French film Indochine. Halong Bay is dotted with an estimated 1,969 islands spread over 900 square miles. Some are covered in dense vegetation; others are bare and rocky. Enjoy a lunch of Vietnamese cuisine while sailing gracefully past these imposing formations on a converted fishing junk. See tiny islands dotted with rock arches, sheer cliffs, innumerable white sand beaches and peaceful coves. You will stop at HANG CO Cave and wander through the cavern to marvel at its stalagmite and stalactite formations (suitable only for the agile). You will also enjoy a stop at a fishing village VUNG VIEN before returning to the ship. A World Heritage Site Conservation team member will sail along with you highlighting the work being done to preserve the unique geology of Halong Bay and provide insight to the importance of this natural wonder.

Drinks and western restroom facilities are available on board. There are about 100 steep steps to reach the HANG CO Cave, which is an optional visit.
