See the Children's Peace Monument, inspired by a girl who died of leukemia as a result of the atomic blast. She folded paper cranes, symbol of long life, in hopes that she would get better. The park now receives nearly 10 million paper cranes annually in the name of world peace. See colorful paper cranes hanging throughout your visit. You'll also explore Shukkeien Gardens. Modeled after a landscape in Hangzhou, China, a feudal lord had the gardens built in 1620. It features miniature landscapes of forests, valleys and mountains. Stroll pathways and over bridges to a pond with an oasis of teahouses and waterfalls. From here, you'll head to the pier. Relax on your ride back to the ship.
