Settle in for a relaxed, easy day that includes some of Hitachinaka's top photo opportunities. Begin with a scenic drive through the Hitachi Seaside Park to the Oarai area, where you'll stop to photograph Oarai Isosaki Shrine, set dramatically overlooking the turbulent waters and protected by a torii gate, aptly named "Kamiiso-no-Torii," which translates to "gate at the beach of the gods." After filling your camera, you're off to the iconic Oarai Marine Tower, a modern structure covered with mirrors and appliques in the motif of sea waves. From the observation deck, take in views of the Pacific Ocean and Mt. Fuji, weather permitting. Conclude the day at the bustling Nakaminato Fish Market. Wander the stalls, interact with the vendors, purchase the freshest catch of the day at one of the many restaurants, and shop for souvenirs. Return to port at the end of this engaging day.
