A day of artistry and spirituality awaits on this delightful sojourn to the City of Kasama, famed for its distinctive pottery production and namesake shrine. Begin with a visit to the Ibaraki Ceramic Art Museum and delve into the history of the unique local pottery that involves mixing several types of clay with pieces of granite. Peruse an array of ceramic pieces from local and global craftspeople. Next, visit a local kiln to meet with professionals and learn their artistic process. You can purchase their wares as well. Continue on to the vermillion-hued Kasama Inari Shrine, built in 651 as a place to worship the god of harvest and business. This shrine is a pilgrim site to over 3.5 million worshippers every year.
