Caernarfon Castle played a key role in England's long struggle for dominion over Wales. Built by Edward I at the entrance of the Menai Strait, the castle was the linchpin in a series of English fortifications built in the 13th century. Stroll the battlements atop the gray stone walls, climb the towers, and see the courtyard where Prince Charles was invested as Prince of Wales in 1969. This full-day excursion with lunch allows time for shopping in the historic walled city of Caernarfon and visits Llanfair P.G., a charming town whose official name consists of 58 characters.
