Set forth on this rigorous, full-day guided tour via air-conditioned motorcoach to Masada, the mountaintop fortress where, for three years, Jewish Zealots made their last stand against Roman armies before committing mass suicide in 73 BCE. Ascend via cable car for the opportunity to explore the ruins of this moving site, which include Herod's palace, the synagogue, the baths, the defending walls, and the water cisterns that are an engineering feat still today. Travel to the Dead Sea, the lowest place on Earth at 1,276 feet below sea level. Enjoy a delicious lunch buffet accompanied by wine at a leading hotel there. Then slip into the sea to experience firsthand the exquisite sensation of floating effortlessly upon waters so filled with salt that even non-swimmers can remain buoyant without even trying. Travel past the ruins of Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in 1947.

The drive between Ashdod and Masada is approximately two hours each way.Walking shoes are recommended; bring a hat and water. Don't forget a bathing suit and a towel if you wish to swim in the Dead Sea.
Please do not bring any jewelry with you, as it is not recommended to go into the Dead Sea with it and the only place to leave it is in the lockers. It is not recommended for children under the age of 10 to go into the Dead Sea, as the water may sting their eyes.
