One of the most exciting ways to see the Mendenhall Glacier by air is on a helicopter tour. The adventure begins when you travel to the helipad in Juneau. Here, you'll step inside the helicopter, lift off and soar over alpine ridges towards the Mendenhall Glacier. From this unique eagle's-eye-view, you'll marvel at the verdant rain forests, alpine ridges, and mountain peaks that create a dramatic setting for the awe-inspiring Mendenhall Glacier. Gaining altitude, you may pass Mendenhall Towers - rock sentinels that rise over 5,000 feet out of the glacier - and spectacular ice falls. Setting down on the ice you will have 25 minutes to explore the glacier with your expert glacier guide. Learn how glaciers are formed as your camera and binoculars work overtime. Returning to Juneau, you will be treated to the unforgettable sight of Mendenhall Glacier stretching out towards the sea.
