Travel by ferry to Sakurajima, the volcanic island in the harbor. The symbol of Kagoshima, Mt. Sakurajima rises over 3,600 feet above Kinko Bay. The Arimura Observatory on Mt. Sakurajima offers views of the crater (weather permitting). Return to Kagoshima and enjoy lunch in a local restaurant. Continue to Senganen (Iso Garden), designed during the 17th century for Kagoshima's ruling daimyo. This superb formal garden offers stunning views of Sakurajima and Kagoshima Bay (weather permitting). Tour Shoko Shuseikan Museum, which chronicles over seven centuries of Shimazu clan history. The Shimazu controlled Kagoshima and the Satsuma Peninsula from the 12th century to the Meiji Restoration of 1868. Your final destination is a distillery specializing in shochu made from sweet potatoes. Tour the factory and sample traditional shochu.

Visit to Senganen (Iso Garden) includes walking over uneven, bare and graveled ground. This tour is not recommended for passengers with walking difficulties or wheelchairs (some parts of garden are not wheelchair accessible).The view of Sakurijima is subject to weather conditions.
Taking a photo is not allowed inside of the Shoko Shuseikan Museum. Tour order may vary.
Sakurajima Ferry will not operate it when it is bad weather.
