Setesdal Mineral Park

Board your motorcoach and travel through Kristiansand, viewing the Quadraturen, the old historic town center laid out in a square grid. Drive north to Setesdal Mineral Park traveling through a landscape of forest, hills, lakes and small farms. Located on a peninsula in the Otra river, Setesdal Mineral Park is home to a musem housed in what was once one of the largest mines in Norway. The refurbished mine shafts feature five exhibit halls with displays ranging from mineral collections to old mining equipment including sledges, ore carts and smithy tools. Other exhibits include minerals from around the world as well as rare and precious minerals. Water from the river outside is used to both heat the tunnels and maintain a constant humidity in them. The Park features both a bookstore and a small shop offering mineral samples and souvenirs. Refreshments are available for purchase at the coffee shop.
