Easy Atlantic Ocean Road

A thrilling day of scenic wonder awaits when you travel to famed Atlantic Ocean Road, an engineering marvel of multiple bridges and causeways that connect tiny islands and define where this mighty ocean begins. Your half-day adventure begins when you depart Molde and take in its snow-peaked mountains and sparkling fjord. Head to Atlantic Ocean Road, a 5-mile (8-km) Norwegian Scenic Route established in 1989 and renowned for its spectacular scenery. Of the bridges you'll cross, Storseisundet Bridge is the tallest, and from certain angles it appears to drop right into the sea. Along the way, view many small villages and stop in Bud, a quaint fishing hamlet, to take photos and admire the vistas that stretch to the Bjørnsund Islands. Wend your way back to Molde and up to the top of Varden Viewpoint, 1,200 feet above town, before returning to port.
