Settle in for a comfortable 90-minute orientation drive that will introduce the charms of Nuuk. Your time is primarily spent sightseeing from the motorcoach window but does include a few photo stops. Nestled at the head of an intricate fjord system, Inuits, Vikings and other groups had lived here for 4,000 years. But the city as it appears today was officially founded in 1728 by Danish missionary Hans Egede, whose statue now overlooks the harbor. Admire the Katuaq Cultural Center, the bright-red half-timber Nuuk Cathedral, consecrated in 1849, the colorful Colonial Harbor and, of course, the star attraction: the spectacular natural landscapes. Return to port with a true appreciation for this capital city.
