When Erik the Red arrived in Greenland with a fleet of 14 longships, Nuuk was just one of the many Viking settlements established in the 10th century. Soak up the same solitude and scenery experienced by these early explorers as you set out on a boat tour to and around some of the numerous islands in the vicinity of Nuuk. After boarding, your captain will steer a course into the icy blue waters. Set against a backdrop of snowcapped mountains and cerulean skies, the two-hour cruise offers a little R and R and plenty of photo ops. Head inside the comfortable cabin or marvel at the sweeping views from your spot on the observation deck. From this perspective, you'll be charmed by Nuuk's Scandinavian gable-roofed houses in primary colors of red, yellow, and blue. And be on the lookout for wildlife that call these waters home- Greenland seals, sea birds and the occasional humpback whale.
