From wild cliff-top seascapes to ancient stone circles, Orkney's West Mainland delights with stunning archaeological treasures and unforgettably pastoral scenery. A 2.5-hour excursion is just enough time to see the highlights, which begin with a 45-minute motorcoach ride to the Cliffs of Yesnaby. You'll continue to the Heart of Neolithic Orkney, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for a guided tour of the great ceremonial stone circle known as the Ring of Brodgar. A guided tour will introduce you to these 27 ceremonial stones thought to have been used to study the stars and believed to be part of an original array of more than 60 stones erected more than 4,500 years ago. On your concluding drive back to port, you'll pass the imposing Standing Stones of Stenness, one of the earliest stone circles in Britain dating back 5,000 years. Return to Kirkwall with magnificent photos and memories of this day.
特記事項:
