Experience an unforgettable unique walk through Paamiut and learn more about the people, their culture and lifestyle. People have lived here since 1,500 B.C.E. After the arrival of the Danes in 1742, the Inuit community prospered by trading furs and whale products and became known for its soapstone carvings. As you stroll through town it isn't unusual to find seal meat and seal skins drying on racks under the houses, a tradition that has remained throughout the centuries. Have your camera ready for the lovely 19th century Friedenskirche, a wooden stave church whose green roof, red walls and golden trim stand in contrast to the unadorned white crosses of the adjacent graveyard. Further on is the Paamiut Museum, a 250-square-meter (2,690-square-feet) museum that boasts a circle of five historic stone-and-timber buildings around a turf-ringed former wellhouse.

※There are no inside visits on this tour. Wear sturdy, non-skid walking shoes. Tour requires approximately 90 minutes of walking. The tour involves moderate walking with some uneven surfaces and steps to negotiate.The level of guide experience varies in Paamiut due the remoteness of its location. Limited tourism infrastructure is part of the charm here, and you are trading breadth of experience for authentic interaction. Please bring your spirit of adventure and bear with any language difficulties your guide may encounter and with any operational surprises that may crop up. All of the sights you'll see on tour are accessible on foot from the tender pier, but your guide offers perspectives that you may not be aware of if you explore on your own. Not suitable for guests confined to wheelchairs or with walking difficulties.
