Visit Fremantle Prison, built in 1855 to house imperial convicts and colonial prisoners. Tour the main cellblock and prison yard as your guide regales you with the storied history of the prison which includes hangings and dramatic convict escapes. Decommissioned in 1991, it is currently part of a joint nomination of Australian Convict Sites for World Heritage status. Next you will visit the Western Australian Maritime Museum, perched on the shore of the Indian Ocean. Dedicated to Australia's long and colorful maritime history, it features internationally acclaimed exhibits. The Museum is also home to the winning America's Cup yacht, Australia II.
