Set sail on an unforgettable journey to the outer Great Barrier Reef aboard a comfortable, air-conditioned catamaran equipped with restrooms, shaded areas, and a sun deck. As you cruise, enjoy morning tea and an engaging presentation from a marine naturalist, who shares fascinating insights about this World Heritage-listed natural wonder.
Spanning over 1,600 miles and made up of more than 2,900 reefs, the Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest and most diverse reef system. Its vibrant coral gardens are home to a dazzling array of marine life including rainbow-colored fish, turtles, rays, sea cucumbers, and more.
Upon arrival at the outer reef pontoon, you'll have approximately three hours to explore. Choose from a range of activities designed to suit all interests and skill levels. Snorkel in crystal-clear waters, or stay dry while enjoying a guided coral viewing aboard a semi-submersible boat. Watch a fish feeding demonstration, visit the marine touch tank, or relax and take in the views.
For an extra thrill, optional activities such as introductory and certified scuba diving, Seawalker Helmet Diving (where available), and scenic helicopter rides can be arranged for an additional cost.
A delicious buffet lunch featuring hot and cold dishes and fresh tropical fruit is served on board.
After a day filled with marine wonders and adventure, unwind during your relaxing cruise back to port.

The cruise between Port Douglas and the outer reef takes approximately 90 minutes each way. Passengers prone to seasickness should take the necessary precautions; the passage can be rough in the approximately 20 miles of open sea between shore and the reef.The season for box jellyfish and stingers starts with the onset of the wet across the top of northern Australia, usually around October and lasts until April
Please be advised that certain activities (listed under Optional Extras") may be offered once at the pontoon. Please note that these activities are not operated by Princess Cruises and as such we cannot guarantee the safety of guests engaging in such activities. Accordingly, any guests engaging in such activities do so entirely at their own risk. If you are in any doubt about any aspect of any activity offered to you, please contact your Princess Cruises representative. Credit cards and local currency are accepted for additional activities, wetsuit rental and purchases onboard the catamaran and pontoon. Towels are not provided therefore we suggest passengers bring their own.
The minimum age for Scuba Diving and Oceanwalker is 12 years. A parent/guardian must accompany those between 12 and 18 years of age and provide a letter of consent. All participants should be in good health but certain medical conditions, medications and height restrictions may preclude some people from participating in optional in-water activities. All participants will be required to complete an on-board medical questionnaire and must participate in a 30-minute dive brief.
Passengers wishing to participate in certified diving (additional cost) must present their current certification card along with proof of last dive.
Life jackets are available for guests use whilst snorkelling if required. Please ask staff aboard the vessel if you require use of these.
