From the pier, a short walk brings you to the terminal for an early check in to your ferry. Make your way across Casco Bay en route to Peaks Island, just one mile from Portland's waterfront. View House Island. From 1907 to 1937, the island was the site of an immigration quarantine station, and was considered the "Ellis Island of the north." In fact, a detention center, hospital, and a house still reside on the north side of the island. Upon arrival at Peaks Island, enjoy a few minutes of free time to browse the quaint waterfront before convening at the Inn on Peaks Island for a "Downeast lobster bake." Lunch includes clam chowder, mussels, 1¼ lb. fresh lobster (one per person), red potatoes, corn on the cobb, dinner rolls and a seasonal desert and water (cash bar available). After lunch you'll cruise back across Casco Bay and return to the pier. Upon arrival in Portland, choose to accompany your guide back to the ship or stay downtown to explore Portland on your own.
