Izumo-taisha is a major pilgrimage site and the scene of important festivals. Continue to Hinomisaki shrine and lighthouse. The shrine's vermilion buildings boast fine carvings of dragons, tigers and cranes, while the lighthouse is the tallest stone masonry lighthouse in Japan.
