Set in the center of Mt. Etna National Park, Europe's tallest active volcano is a UNESCO World Heritage Site noted for its unique geological features. While Mt. Etna has erupted at least 190 times since its first recorded eruption in 1500 BC, it wasn't until its 1892 eruption that the stunning Crateri Silvestri was created. You'll set off from the pier through a landscape of vineyards and citrus groves and past the charming villages of Santa Venerina and Zafferana Etnea. Once you arrive, you'll walk along an alien looking landscape to the rim almost 1,950 meters (6,400 feet) above sea level. From this breathtaking vantage point you'll have a bird's eye view of earth and sky with the Gulf of Catania on the horizon. Mount Etna's rich, volcanic soil lends itself to growing the perfect grape. And your next destination is a local winery for lunch and a wine tasting.
特記事項:
The minimum age to taste wine is 18. The ground around the Crateri Silvestri is uneven and rough. Passengers should take care when walking. Wear comfortable, closed toe walking shoes and a sweater or jacket. Temperatures can drop dramatically at the summit. Due to climatic changes, views may become hindered at any given time.In case unfavorable weather conditions do not permit a safe visit to Mt. Etna and the Silvestri Crater, these will be replaced by a panoramic drive around Mt. Etna, a visit to the village of Zafferana Etnea and the 1992 eruption lava flow volcanic landscape.
