Nature lovers, history buffs, and inquisitive travelers alike will thrill to discover two of Toba's most intriguing sites. From the ship, you'll take a scenic route to the Ise-jingu Shrine Complex. Home to 120 buildings, the most important are the Inner Shrine known as Naiku, dedicated to the Sun Goddess, and Geku, or Outer Shrine, dedicated to the god of agriculture, rice harvest and industry. Dating back to the 7th century, the shrine buildings are made of solid cypress wood and use no nails but instead joined wood. En route to your lunch venue, you'll travel along the Ise Shima Skyline to the Asamayama Observatory where you'll stop for photos of beautiful Ise Bay. The last stop is Mikimoto Pearl Island, the birthplace of the cultured pearl. Learn the history of founder Kokichi Mikimoto during a tour of the museum followed by a stop in the gift shop.
