Awa Odori Dance Festival

Witness the dancing and the music that take place every mid-August during the Awaodori Dance Festival with a reserved seat in the stands that overlook the stages. But don't worry if you can't make it in August - you can still experience this wonderful festival at the Awa Odori Kaikan, a museum that sits at the base of Mount Bizan. Although some events take place during the day, the main performances take place in the evening so you'll head out late in the afternoon. After you arrive from the pier by shuttle, you can explore the festival site on your own then take your place in your reserved seat in the designated spectator areas. From this unique perspective you can see groups of dancers called "ren" dressed in colorful costumes pass by in a procession. At the end of the final performance you'll return to your waiting ship, charmed and enchanted by this enlightening experience.
