The Otsuka Museum of Art & Naruto Whirlpools

Witness the powerful forces of man and Mother Nature with a full-day excursion that takes you to Naruto, Shikoku's northeastern most city. First on your itinerary is a visit to the renowned Otsuka Museum of Art. El Greco's "Guernica" and Monet's "Water Lilies" are just two of the more than 1,000 artworks that are reproduced on ceramic boards. One of the museum's most notable sights is an awe-inspiring full-scale reproduction of Michelangelo's ceiling and "The Last Judgment in the Sistine Chapel." Next, is a visit to Uzu-no-michi Edy, the Observatory of Naruto Straits, for a look at the whirlpools from a glass floor that sits just 145 feet over the roaring ocean. From here you'll have 360-degree views of the swirling waters, which at 66 feet in diameter, are said to be the largest in the world and can reach speeds of up to 12 miles per hour during spring and autumn. Later, you'll stop for lunch en route to your ship in Tokushima.
