Tokyo may seem to thrive at lightning-fast speed, but its spirituality is on display in the beautifully adorned temples and shrines that dot the city. No trip to Tokyo is complete without a visit to two impressive places of worship. Revel in the exotic scenery as you make your way from Yokohama to the Meiji Shrine. Dedicated to Emperor Meiji, a walk through the large Torii gate reveals the lovely Shinto shrine nestled in a large park encompassing 120,000 trees. Another sacred site is the Sensoji Temple. Founded in 628, Tokyo's oldest temple features five stories and a colossal black and red paper lantern adorning the Kaminarimon Gate. Walk through the gate and you'll find yourself on Nakamise-dori, or Nakamise Shopping Street, which leads to the temple. Along the way, you can shop at the stalls that sell a variety of products such as food and souvenirs to handmade crafts.
