Showcasing the island's impressive medieval history, your half-day adventure, with considerable walking, visits both ancient landmarks and the newly built Medieval Center, an outdoor museum that will take you back in time. Your knowledgeable guide leads the charge and details Bornholm's turbulent history between monarchy and the Church for control over this Baltic Island. Begin at the Hammershus Ruins and see where the king confined his prisoners, ruled and tried to regain power over the Church and the island. Then travel a coastal route passing picturesque Gudhjem en route to the Medieval Center open-air museum. Stroll among costumed volunteers who reenact the lives of peasants, craftspeople and prisoners, and step inside replica buildings and structures that exemplify the era. Next, discover Osterlars, the biggest round church on the island, built in year 1150 AD. It served during the medieval times as both a house of worship and a protective fortification.

Guests should be able to navigate uneven surfaces and approximately 90 minutes of walking and standing. The tour is therefore not suitable for guests with limited mobility. At the Medieval museum, guests can opt for the guided tour with the guide or explore on their own. If the church is closed due to religious services, an outside visit will be made.詳細
