Bornholm proudly showcases four of Denmark's seven medieval round churches. Originally built in 1200 by the archbishop of Lund, the ruins of the castle stand on a 242-foot (74-meter) rocky plateau in the northwest corner of Bornholm. Completely abandoned in 1743, the ruins are the largest of their kind in northern Europe.
